Regional Planner/GIS Coordinator

The Lakes Region Planning Commission is accepting applications for a GIS Coordinator/Regional Planner. We are searching for a versatile planner with experience in GIS and general hardware/software expertise to work both as a professional planner on local and regional planning projects, and to lead the GIS program.

RESPONSIBILITIES include: planning, coordinating and implementing a region-wide Geographic Information System (GIS); development of geographic data, database coordination, and application development in support of staff projects and agency needs. Most GIS tasks require cartographic, data development, editing, geoprocessing, and spatial analysis skills. Other tasks include advising senior staff on matters relating to GIS and planning efforts; attending meetings, collecting and analyzing data for use by the agency. A proven ability to deliver complex research and policy reports that effectively convey detailed information to state and local authorities is necessary.

REQUIREMENTS: Computer proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS 9.2, Microsoft Office, and PowerPoint. Also desired, experience with ESRI's Spatial Analyst, GIS database management, cartography, GPS technologies, Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop, other graphics programs, HTML or other web programming, hardware and software troubleshooting. Strong aptitude to multi-task, organize, prioritize, and complete assignments needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: B.A. in planning, GIS, or closely related field, (M.A. preferred) and 1 years experience; a commitment to public planning, solid writing/presentation skills, and an ability to work simultaneously on a wide variety of GIS and planning projects, both independently and with supervision.

LRPC is located in the heart of NH, in scenic hill and lake country, within 100 miles of Boston. Starting salary from $35,000, doe. We provide a full benefits package.
